 Mayor of Nicosia Mr.Lellos Demetriades, Painter Glyn HUGHES, Painter Fiona STANBURY & VP. Vasuhan That was my first exhibition participating alongside other well-known artists. It felt like a miracle to me, and it turned me toward a completely new path in my painting journey. Ever since then, I have regularly exhibited my work. The milestone took place on 14th November 1997, at the Melina Mercouri Hall in Nicosia, Cyprus, a premier cultural venue located near the city's historic Venetian walls. Entitled Hommage to French Painters 1900–1960, the group exhibition was organized by prominent painters and art critics, spearheaded by the influential Welsh-born artist and critic Glyn Hughes. The opening ceremony was graced by Mr. Lellos Demetriades, the long-serving Mayor of Nicosia Municipality. Being included in this project alongside established names marked a critical foundational moment in my artistic career. Glyn Hughes (1931–2014), was a towering figure in contemporary Cypriot art. A Welsh-born painter, set designer, and long-time art critic for The Cyprus Weekly, Hughes was a pioneer who co-founded the legendary Apophasis cultural center in 1960 alongside Christoforos Savva.
