Flowers, Trees and nature
Flowers and trees are the true identity of a landscape. Growing up in Sri Lanka—an island defined by its lush greenery and vibrant butterflies - I spent my adolescence immersed in a world of colors and organic growth.
Although the island is small, its landscapes are not similar. My deepest connection to this environment began with my grandfather, a dedicated farmer whose mastery of botany and natural talent for gardening left an indelible mark on me. Watching him work, I came to understand what it truly means to have a "green thumb."
Since my childhood, flowers, birds, and butterflies have been the primary inspiration for my work. My practice is built upon a foundation of continuous landscape drawing, occasionally punctuated by experimental abstract studies on paper. The floral works featured here serve as living souvenirs—they are captured memories of the various landscapes I have inhabited and the many voyages I have undertaken.
